Onslow - Old Jetty Ruins - 001

from $55.00

FINE ART PRINT

The historic Onslow Jetty ruins captured on a stormy day. Originally a jetty of some three-quarters of a kilometre in length, was constructed to cater for the State Ship and Blue Funnel Line that plied to Singapore. These ships brought in nearly all provisions, building equipment, timber and general merchandise. Exports included wool, pearl shell and minerals. The jetty had to be rebuilt when it was badly damaged by a cyclone in 1934. The jetty continued to serve Onslow until March 1961 when another cyclone demolished more than 300 metres. State Ships were then prevented from calling at the jetty and were forced to anchor offshore where they loaded and unloaded via a lighter.

In 1972, a landing was established in Beadon Creek and the jetty fell into disrepair to be destroyed in an Army explosives exercise in 1982.

So many beautiful memories of our recent trip to Tasmania ❤️

❄️ One of the highlights was definitely the snowfall during our time staying at Cradle mountain, in the cabins for 3 night.

Perfect for photography as well as connec
We faced some pretty wild weather while visiting this stunning location - Crater Lake, in the Cradle Mountain NP.

Heavy snow from the previous day was melting fast so the track up was like walking up a running stream.

We stopped to enjoy a few wa
Another river gum abstract photo from the Ashburton River recently. I’m seeing an alien in this shot.

I’ve shared the wide shot of the river gum also, showing this image and one I shared previously which was also captured from this same
